Guidelines for the Grand Award of the German Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics
The German Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics offers the Grand Award of the DGGG every two years in order to promote and honor outstanding scientists in gerontology and geriatrics. The award comes with 10,000 Euros in prize money which may be shared by up two applicants.
Contestants can be nominated by others, but contestants may also apply themselves.
The following documents are required to apply:
- Scientific résumé (tabular)
- List of publications
- The scientific work with which you wish to apply, in PDF format
- short additional summary of the scientific work with which you would like to apply for the award (max. 2 DIN A4 pages), structured in the following way: Background and current status in science, question, methodological approach, central findings and their meaning, also in PDF format
In case there is more than one author, the cover letter should indicate who was in charge of which part of the work and should be signed by all contributors confirming that they approve of the application.
The applications are to be submitted by 31 May of the year submissions are invited including a current, printable passport photograph (min. 300 dpi) as well as a brief outline of your scientific work (max. 1,200 characters including blanks) to the German Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics. The Award is granted by an award council. This committee consists of the executive committee of the society and up to three experts who should be members of the German Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics.
The award ceremony is held every two years on occasion of the conference facilitated by the German Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics. The participation of the laureate in the opening event is mandatory.
